History of Bao Dai Palace
The palace was built from 1933 to 1937 under the reign of King Bao Dai, the last king of the Vietnamese feudal dynasty. The palace is designed in European art style and is located in the middle of the pine forest near the Pasteur Institute.
In the past, this villa was built as a retreat place for King Bao Dai and his royal family to escape the heat of summer but after 1950, when the French colony returned to Vietnam, the palace was the king’s office and home. Today, visitors can find it on Trieu Viet Vuong

Coming here, you will be impressed by the hydrangeas garden on both sides of the entrance, and many other flowers are blooming. A peaceful space with green pine forests, and you can not help being surprised by the images of horses on campus.
Inside, you will be overwhelmed by the royal palace with 25 comfortable rooms.
The palace consists of 2 floors. The ground is the king’s workplace. It includes office room, living room and reception room. Upstairs is the living space of the king and his family. The king’s bedroom also has a beautiful balcony called the “vong nguyet lau”, where the king and queen often admire the moonlight.
Each room reflects the characteristics and condition of the owner: the room of the first son was painted yellow and was considered luxurious at the time, the Queen’s room is easily identifiable by feminine touch.
Inside the palace, there are many valuable objects still preserved in good condition. Including a number of sculptures of the royal family, Bao Dai’s life-sized white statue and Khai Dinh’s father’s small yellow and brown painting, King Sihanouk of Cambodia’s picture Angkor Wat’s and a Vietnamese engraved glass map.
